Golden Meadow to Clovelly 115 kV Rebuild

Description: This project is located in Lafourche Parish in south Louisiana. The project scope includes rebuilding the 115 kV line between Clovelly and Golden Meadow 115 kV stations. This line, which was originally constructed in 1964, will be rebuilt to 230 kV specifications, operated at 115 kV, and to 150 mph wind loading due to its proximity to the coast and potential exposure to hurricane force winds.

Cost: Approximately $86 million.

Benefits: This project addresses future load growth and reliability needs in south Louisiana.

West Monroe Area 230 kV Reliability Improvement Plan

Description: This project, located in the northern portion of Louisiana, involves the following:

  • Expansion of the existing Perryville EHV station to accommodate a new 500-230 kV autotransformer.
  • Construction of approximately 3 miles of double circuit 230 kV line to create a new Perryville to Selman Field 230 kV path.
  • Conversion of the existing Selman Field to Rilla 115 kV line to 230 kV operation.

Cost: Approximately $102 million.

Benefits: This project addresses future load growth and reliability needs in north Louisiana.

Mud Lake to Big Lake 230 kV Project

Description: This project, located south of Lake Charles in southwestern Louisiana, is to construct a new ten mile 230 kV line from Mud Lake 230 kV to Big Lake 230 kV.

Cost: Approximately $107 million.

Status: The project is expected be placed in service by the Summer of 2023.

Benefits: This project addresses future load growth and reliability needs in south Louisiana.


Sellers Leblanc Project

Description: This project located in the Acadiana Load Pocket in south Louisiana is a jointly planned project between Entergy and CLECO. CLECO will construct a new 138 kV ring bus including a 230-138 kV Autotransformer and a 138 kV line cut in and out at their Sellers Road substation. Entergy will construct a 20-mile 138 kV line from Sellers Road to the existing Conrad 138 kV station. Also part of this project is a series reactor being installed at the Cecelia 138 kV station.

Cost: Approximately $64 million.

Status: The project is expected to be placed in service by the winter of 2022.

Benefits: This project addresses future load growth and reliability needs in south Louisiana. 


Munster 230 kV Substation

Description: This project is located in St. Bernard Parish in south Louisiana. The project scope includes constructing a new 230 kV Munster substation north of the existing Meraux substation. The existing Michoud to Meraux, Meraux to Oaks, and Michoud to Arabi 230 kV lines will be brought into the new station. Approximately one mile of new double circuit 230 kV line will need to be installed to accommodate the new line cut-ins.

Cost: Approximately $73 million.

Status: The project is expected to be placed in service by the summer of 2023.

Benefits: This project addresses future load growth and reliability needs in south Louisiana. 


Chackbay 230 kV Substation

Description: This project constructs a new distribution substation that cuts into the existing Vacherie to Thibodaux 230 kV line. The new substation will be located north of Thibodaux, LA.

Cost: Approximately $28 million.

Status: The project is expected to be placed in service in the summer of 2023.

Benefits: This project addresses future load growth and reliability needs in south Louisiana.
